What it is

This is Sheep Tag Online, a remake of Sheep Tag, the Warcraft III custom map that people have played since 2002.¹ One team is the sheep. They have 40 seconds to wall themselves in with farms before the wolves leave their den. The wolves are faster and can chew through anything. If one sheep is still standing when the clock runs out, the sheep win.

A round in four lines

• 5 sheep against 2 wolves, 8 minutes, by default.
• The first 40 seconds the wolves wait in their den while the sheep build.
• Then the hunt. A wolf that touches a sheep sends it to the pen in the middle of the map, where a friend can bring it back.
• The last minute is night. The wolves get faster and everyone sees less.

The trick that makes the game: a sheep fits through a gap one tile wide, and a wolf doesn't. Build a fort with a one-tile door and you can come and go while the pack has to chew.

Any mix of players works. When the wolves are outnumbered more than 3 to one, they bite harder and run faster, so one wolf against a full flock is still a real hunt.

Play with bots or friends

• Alone: pick a side and play against bots on Easy, Normal or Hard. Each side has a short tutorial.
• With friends: make a room and send the invite link. Up to 12 players, 8 sheep and 4 wolves, and bots take any seat nobody is in. How to play with friends.
• With strangers: quick match puts you in a public game, with bots filling the seats.

Laptop or phone

On a computer you move with W A S D or the mouse and build with the number keys. On a phone you drag to walk and build from a tray at the bottom of the screen. A phone and a laptop can play in the same room. There's nothing to download and no account to make.

Is it really free?

Yes. No download, no sign-up and nothing to buy. It is a fan remake, so you need no copy of Warcraft III either.
