Open Play, press Make a room under Play online and send the invite link. Friends who open it land right in your room, on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install. Up to 12 people play together, and bots fill every empty seat, so two friends get a full game.

What kind of game is it?
Sheep Tag Online is a multiplayer game of hide and hunt, rebuilt from Sheep Tag, the Warcraft III custom map. One team plays the sheep: they get 40 seconds to wall themselves in with farms before the wolves leave the den. The wolves are faster and chew through walls. If one sheep is still standing when the clock runs out, the sheep win. A standard round is 8 minutes, short enough for "one more".
It works with friends because the two sides want different things. The sheep plan and build together and pull each other out of the pen. The wolves hunt as a pack. Then you swap.
How do you play with friends?
- Make a room. Open Play, then Online, type a name and press Create room.
- Send the link. Press Copy invite link (on a phone it says Share invite) and send it in your group chat. Or read out the four-letter room code at the top of the room.
- Pick sides. Friends who open the link pick a name and land in your room. Everyone chooses Join sheep or Join as Wolf.
- Start. The host presses Start match. Seats nobody took are played by bots.
A friend without the link can open Play, choose Online, type the code into Room code and press Join room.
Is it free? Do you have to download anything?
It's free, with nothing to download, no account and nothing to buy. Everyone plays in their browser at sheeptag.online. You pick a name when you join, and that's all the game asks. It is a fan remake, so nobody needs a copy of Warcraft III either.
Can phones and laptops play together?
Yes. A phone and a laptop can be in the same room, on the same team or against each other. On a computer you walk with W A S D or the mouse and build with the number keys. On a phone you drag anywhere on the field to walk and build from a tray at the bottom of the screen. Controls has every key and gesture.
How many can play? Bots fill the rest
A room holds up to 12 people: 8 sheep and 4 wolves. You never need that many. The host sets how many sheep and wolf seats there are, and any seat without a person in it is played by a bot, at the bot skill the host picked: Easy, Normal or Hard.
- Two of you: play the same side and let bots be the other team, or face each other with bot teammates.
- A whole group: fill both sides and keep a bot or two for the seats nobody wants.
Which lineup plays best with friends?
We ran 180 bot rounds of each lineup on Auto to see which way each one leans. The closest to an even fight:
- 5 against 1: the wolves win 60% of bot rounds (7:15 on Auto).
- 6 against 3: the wolves win 61% of bot rounds (8:45 on Auto).
- 3 against 3: the wolves win 62% of bot rounds (7 min on Auto).
In the standard 5 against 2, the wolves won 63% of bot rounds, so a group still learning to wall in does better with one of the lineups above. Whatever you pick, turn on Swap sides each round in the room. After each match the wolves change, so everyone gets a turn to hunt. Every lineup we measured is in Game modes.
What can the host change?
The host picks the sheep and wolf seats, how long a round lasts, the bot skill and the season, and switches Swap sides each round on or off.
Every row in the lobby also has two buttons for the host. Move puts that player on the other side at once. Remove takes a person out of the room for good, after a second press, so nobody gets removed by accident. A bot seat has them too, which is the quick way to add or drop a bot.
What if someone drops out?
Phones lose signal and laptops go to sleep. The game reconnects you by itself and holds your seat. In a match, a bot plays your sheep or wolf until you are back, and a reload of the page puts you straight back in your seat. If you were gone too long, the game says so, and the room code gets you back in the room.
No friends online right now?
- Quick match, in Online, puts you in the fullest public game with a seat for you, or opens a new one. Bots fill whatever is left.
- Find players on Discord, also in Online, shows who is around on the Sheep Tag Online Discord, where people call for games.
- Bots are always there: play a sheep or a wolf right now, and bring the tricks to your next room.
